Listen to any article
Long reads are easier to get through when you can listen instead. Paste a link above and ReadAnyText pulls the article out of the page, hands it to a neural voice, and gives you back an MP3 free, without an account.
How it works
- 1
Paste the link
The page is fetched and run through the same article detection browsers use for reader mode, so navigation, adverts, related links and comment threads are left behind.
- 2
Check the text
What it found lands in the editor. Trim the parts you don't want, pick a voice, set the pace, and add pauses wherever the delivery should breathe.
- 3
Listen or download
Play it in the browser or take the MP3 away, with SRT and WebVTT subtitles timed to the word.
Questions
- Which pages does this work on?
- Ordinary article pages news, blogs, documentation, essays. Anything whose text is in the page when it loads.
- Why did it fail on some links?
- Pages behind a login or paywall, sites that block automated readers, and pages that build their text with JavaScript after loading will come back empty. Copy the text into the main editor instead.
- Does it strip the navigation and adverts?
- Yes. The page is passed through Mozilla's Readability the same article-detection used by Firefox's reader view which keeps the body text and discards the furniture around it.
- Is the page stored anywhere?
- No. Our server fetches the page, hands the HTML straight back to your browser, and keeps nothing. The article text is only sent onward if you press Generate.
- Can I use it on any address?
- Public http and https pages on the standard web ports. Private and internal addresses are refused, which keeps the fetcher from being pointed at things it shouldn't reach.
